Hope this guy doesn't mind this is on here. This was the very first one. So innocent with my ribbon. Now they are quite secure to answer a popular question. Do they get stolen? I lost many along the way though my latest system seems good.

This is an ongoing project that has been installed over 800 times. It moves around Lower Manhattan. The first videos on the page are the originals, I am looking for more of these I know I have. They are known as the "happy to see you" videos. My intention with this project was to try to illicit warm feelings from the looker. You find this object hanging from a pole, peer in, and there's a kooky woman blowing kisses and waving. Many many times I have seen people wave back. I have made dozens of videos, some archived, some not. Sharing warmth has remained the intention of the project. They are quite difficult to document. Most of the photos (with the exception of the first drum and the postal workers) were taken by "Dusty Rebel", beloved street art photographer and blogger who generously sends me snaps of people enjoying the drums since I don't usually get to see it.
